Tree Planting & Plaque Dedication Ceremony
Mayor Sarno, PBRM Director Sullivan, and Superintendent Warwick came together to host a poignant Tree Dedication Ceremony in honor of the late John H. Honoring John H. Murphy and Introducing the John H. Murphy Memorial Scholarship
The Springfield School Committee recognized and honored the late John H. Murphy as an esteemed community partner for over 50 years during a regularly scheduled School Committee meeting on June 22, 2023. School Committee woman Barbara Gresham introduced the John H. Murphy Memorial Scholarship to the community during the meeting, citing the importance and impact of helping area students achieve their college goals of construction-industry careers.
Street Renaming Honors Murphy
The City of Springfield recognized and honored the construction footprint of John H. Murphy with a street re-naming dedication ceremony on the corner of Berkshire Avenue and Eastland Street, a fitting homage situated just steps away from the headquarters of Murphy’s pioneering enterprise.
Springfield Mayor Domenic J. Sarno made the dedication during a ceremony on Friday, May 17th alongside city and elected officials. The location is a short distance from the Pine Point Island Terrace bearing a plaque that commemorates Murphy’s construction impact across Springfield and beyond.
